FAQ

How many teams do you have? What is the goal for each team, and what players are on them?

We have a Varsity, JV, and C team, which we call the "Warrior Team." Warrior team is mostly made of freshmen, and some sophomores we feel need more development before being ready for JV. Warrior team is mostly about developing players technically and tactically, and welcoming players into our program's culture, which we call the "Warrior Brotherhood." All players play in games, with relatively similar amounts of playing time.

The JV team consists mostly of sophomores and juniors, with some freshmen who come into the program performing at a high level technically and physically. Seniors are not eligible to play on the JV team. The JV team is about both development and winning. The focus of practices shifts more towards tactics than Warrior team practices. All players get to play in each game, but the amount of playing time each player gets will not necessarily be equal.

The Varsity team is our most competitive team, and consists mostly of seniors and juniors, and occasionally some exceptional underclassmen. The Varsity team focuses on playing at the highest level possible. Practices lean heavily toward tactics. In many games, not every player will get to play, though we strive to give every player at least some playing time when possible.

Do you make cuts?

Yes, when necessary. Due to Title IX requirements, we are restricted to keeping only 23 players per team, for a total of 69 players. When more than 69 players try out, we must cut down to 69 or less. We start by cutting any seniors who do not make Varsity. We then look at each grade level, including freshmen, and make cuts as we feel is most appropriate, considering what we have seen from players throughout the summer, player positions, projected future development, team chemistry, and other factors. Our coaching staff collectively makes decisions on cuts, and we try to communicate realistic expectations to players throughout preseason and tryouts.

When can incoming freshmen begin participating?

Incoming freshmen are welcome to join us starting with summer drop-ins in June. Please see the summer schedule page for more information.
